"The Guardian, a storyteller figure, which explores the notion of identity, performative journeys and cycles of everyday life. Awarded a travel bursary to Italy by the Royal West of England Academy the artist went on a quest to research the Sybils, mythological women storytellers, painted by Michelangelo on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Rome. She discovered that they often live in mountain caves in rural locations where people would take their story to be help by the Sybil. During her journey, she also visited the Lake of Silence, discovering the account of St Julian who floated across the lake on his cloak, to live on the remote island as a spiritual contemplative."
