"Florbela Espanoa was a Portugese poet in the early 20th century, remembered for being a pioneer of women's rights. She married three times, despite the negative implications this could have in a deeply Catholic culture. Her work rose in popularity for its intensity of expression. Florbela's words are now believed to showcase the tortured soul that resulted in her tragic suicide. Dario depicted Espanoa in Alentejo, where she spent most of her life, as a representation of literature in 'Literatura'. Including the line 'Alma de luto sempre incompreendida' that translate to grieving soul always misunderstood."
